Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is moving ahead with plans to develop a new Legislative Assembly and administrative complex in Lucknow, with construction expected to begin next year. The proposed campus, spread across nearly 200 acres in the Sahara City area of Gomti Nagar, is envisioned as a landmark project combining modern infrastructure with architectural elements inspired by Indian heritage.
According to official sources, the project’s design has reached its final stages after 48 leading consultancy firms from across the country submitted master plans and architectural proposals. Following an evaluation of the submissions, the preferred design has been nearly finalised, and the proposed layout has reportedly been submitted to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) for further processing.
The new Assembly building will feature a lotus-inspired architectural design, with the structure resembling the petals of a lotus flower when viewed from above. The central portion of the complex will house the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council chambers, while surrounding areas will accommodate administrative offices and supporting facilities.
The integrated legislative campus is intended to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure capable of meeting the state’s future administrative and legislative requirements.
Sharing details of the project on social media platform X, Avanish Awasthi, Advisor to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said the development would give Lucknow a new architectural identity.
According to Awasthi, the proposed world-class complex will include:
- A 700-seat Legislative Assembly chamber
- A 200-seat Legislative Council chamber
- A 1,000-seat joint session auditorium
- Parking facilities for more than 5,000 vehicles
He added that construction is likely to commence next year.
Awasthi described the project as a symbol of modern governance, world-class public infrastructure, and Uttar Pradesh’s vision for a future-ready capital. Once completed, the complex is expected to become the state’s primary legislative hub while emerging as a new architectural landmark for Lucknow.
The state government believes the ambitious project will strengthen administrative efficiency and enhance the capital’s civic and institutional infrastructure, reflecting Uttar Pradesh’s long-term development goals.
